While former vocalist Danny Worsnop gets his shit together running around the streets of LA looking more or less like a lost and deranged homeless man, as online sources and IG accounts have claimed, his former bandmates in Asking Alexandria push forward with their newest vocalist Denis Stoff. Today, via Sumerian Records‘ YouTube account, the five piece dropped their latest video for “The Black” off of their upcoming record of the same name.
While many have been highly skeptical at the direction the band would take without the unclean-growling-meets-’80s-hard-rock-belting style of Worsnop, this new release seems to solidify the diverse, almost post-metalcore vibe AA is now taking. With moments reminiscent of everything from Mitch Lucker (R.I.P.) in Suicide Silence to the entirety of Bring Me The Horizon‘s Sempiternal, Asking Alexandria seem to be redefining themselves just fine. In fact, as with their previous releases and public statements, this new track’s lyrics seem to hold just as much animosity towards an *unnamed* outside party with biting lines spitting fire like:
“I’ve been crucified and hung out to dry,
Yet my heart still beats and I feel so alive.
This time I’ll fight for myself as you try to fuck me over.
I bet you never cared.
I knew you never cared.”
Ouch. I wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end of that.
