Knocked Loose Vocalist Bryan Garris Discusses Band’s Notorious Live Show, ‘Laugh Tracks’ & More

A Knocked Loose show isn’t the kind of event you enter into lightly. The Kentucky-based hardcore band have quickly become infamous in the scene for bringing out the rowdiest and most brutal crowds. After the release of their first EP Pop Culture and their recent full-length Laugh Tracks, everyone knows by now that if you go into a KL pit you should expect to get K.O.’d.

INTERVIEW: Church Tongue Talk New Record ‘Heart Failure,’ Setting People On Fire

If you’re like us, you were introduced to Indiana’s Church Tongue when a video of the band setting their guitarist (Chris Sawicki) on fire went viral last year.  The act was one of the most insane displays of punk we’ve ever seen, and now the band are here to deliver a new record to shake the hardcore scene. Church Tongue guitarist Nicko Calderon took some time to talk to us about the upcoming record, Heart Failureand why they started setting people on fire in the first place.

Fit For A King Vocalist Ryan Kirby Talks Heaviest Album Yet, ‘Deathgrip’

The 2015 terrorist attacks on Paris affected not just the iconic French city but the globe, and not just the the ever-turbulent political sphere but the music industry as well. Since acts of terror have become an unfortunately common occurrence in our modern world, we’ve heightened security at large, international events like the Olympics and international hubs of transport such as airports. However, the tragedy that occurred at a concert at the Bataclan was tragic for more than the obvious reason. For many in the music community, like Fit For A King, it was traumatic because it attacked what is supposed to be a safe haven away from all of the horror of the world.

Beartooth, Sylar at NYC ‘Aggressive’ Album Release Show

Queens, New York band Sylar opened the show at Webster Hall for Beartooth‘s album release show and definitely got the crowd amped with their rap-infused vocals and heavy instrumentals.  Being locals to the New York scene, Sylar were definitely an amazing choice to open the night. Their I-don’t-give-a-fuck (clearly from New York) attitude was a huge hit with the audience.

LIVE SHOTS: Rock’n Derby’s 1st Year, New York

The Rock’n Derby was a weird little festival very much off the beaten path. In Schaghticoke, NY, bands from Stray From The Path, to Halestorm, to A Day To Remember gave performances on Saturday, May 21st–just one of the three days of the event. Nestled in rural New York, the festival featured not only bands, however, but wrestling and demolition derby. It also featured some not so cool things, like a surprising number of Confederate flags, only further proving my personal theory that if you drive far enough north (or in any direction, really) you eventually hit The South.

Check out some shots we got from this one-of-a-kind festival. Banged-up cars, face-painted wrestlers, and Levi Benton? Yup. All here.
