Not only do we talk about blasts from the past, but we name a few contemporary records that you definitely need to check out right now! If you like Whitechapel, Senses Fail, Get Scared, Hundredth, Vanna, Beartooth, Taking Back Sunday and more, listen to this episode of The Cellar Door Sessions ~creeaaaakk~.
Yes, that’s right, Waka Flocka Flame is back to go hard in da paint with the face of early 2000s emo-transitional-pop-punk. I’m sure you’re just as confused as we are, but we’re here to help add to that disbelief since this collab, aptly titled “Game On,” is intended to be the theme song for the upcoming children’s comedy Pixels. This upcoming film is based on the idea that old school video games have the chance to come to life and enter the real world, so yes, on top of classic catchy Good Charlotte choruses and Flame raps there are sampled techno-ful video game noises. (Again, what?) Sony might have a little explaining to do when this track hits the big screen as I can’t say there has ever been a time in my life when I thought of Waka Flocka Flame as the voice of the upcoming youth of our nation, but to each his own. Take a look at the track below and let us know what you think of this strange, strange collaboration. We promise it will leave you asking yourself “What is going on?!”
