If, like us, you were wondering where Cane Hill have been, they’ve finally given us the answer — and it’s probably not what you expected:
Melodic hardcore is a genre that truly needs the attention it deserves. You can probably count the number of current well known melodic hardcore bands on one hand. So let’s start recognizing bands of this genre that are coming out with great music. Wither Away, a band out of PA, have recently released their debut record, The Words We Live By, The Actions We Don’t Take. Give their single, “The Grand Tree,” a listen right here and let us know what you think!
Saferwaters have just released a day-in-the-life music video to go with their song, “Unfulfilled.” The song is the first track on their new EP, Honestly, which you can check out here. You can expect more from the band very soon, but until then, see what life on the road is like for these Florida dudes.
Patent Pending’s cover mashup, “Wasted/Wake Me Up,” is one to add to your summer jams playlist. It’s not heavy, but it sure is fun to listen to and to watch. The music video is imaginative and playful and even runs in reverse. If you’re feeling like you need a pick me up, check out this music video!
Make Them Suffer are truly incredible songwriters and “Fireworks” proves that point. The song, off the band’s new record Worlds Apart which comes out July 28 on Rise Records, masterfully blends heavy vocals and eerie guitars with beautiful melodies. This leads to a sense of calm and acceptance while at the same time revealing a type of suffering.
It’s show time again for us and our fans here at HXC Magazine! The world has gotten all types of screwed up in 2017 and we want to show that our music scene can make a real difference. To prove that point, we’re hosting a one-day ‘Make A Change’ Fest that will be a benefit show for the ACLU.
The show will take place in the basement of the First Unitarian Church of Philadelphia, Saturday, June 24th, featuring the bands I Hate Heroes, In Loving Memory, REPS, Zoume, Awake At Last, Pulling Punches and Hollow Bones. If you want to come and show your support for this scene and for equal rights for all, please buy your ticket here.
Vesta Collide‘s new record, New Obsession, is one that metalcore fans (we included) are absolutely enamored with. The band just premiered a music video for the third track on the record, “I Can’t Sleep.” You can check out the brand new music video, along with a brief explanation of it by the band, right here!
Why did you choose to do a music video for “I Can’t Sleep”?
We chose to do a video for “I Can’t Sleep” because we feel it’s a very strong song and a good representation of what to expect from New Obsession.
What do you hope fans get out of the song?
We hope that fans can relate to the song in someway, as it is lyrically universal. It’s dark and something everyone can relate to at some point in their lives because there is always a point where you don’t feel good enough or want something that you can’t have.
What’s the most meaningful lyric in this song (to you) and why?
The most meaningful lyric from “I Can’t Sleep” to me is a very simple line that asks, “Am I dead to you?” Because sometimes you just feel like a ghost to the ones that mean everything to you.

If you’re a sucker (like we are) for horror, screamo and punk, you’ve got to check out One Last Shot. The Syracuse, NY band have just released a gothic styled music video for their brand new single, “Leather & Fangs.” The song comes to you off of their upcoming full-length, The Death of a Poet & All of His Friends, which is to be released on March 31st, 2017. If you’re nostalgic for the glory days of screamo, when watching “Steven’s Untitled Rock Show” on FUSE was an everyday ritual and the band Aiden was taking over, you’re guaranteed to have fun with One Last Shot.
From their record Lionheart comes Hollow Bones‘s music video for the track “I Watched the Snow Fall and Bury Your Bones.” The New York melodic hardcore band use stark silhouettes overlayed with a snowy forest for this atmospheric song. In a track-by-track of the record that the band did with us, the members revealed that not only is it one of their absolute favorite tracks on the record, but the title also comes from the extremely popular Game Of Thrones.
The pop hit “Closer” by The Chainsmokers (ft. Halsey) has taken over the nation and even inspired a series of memes because of how viral it’s gone. New York rock band In Loving Memory just put a heavy spin on the song and it’s just as if not more addicting than the original. Check out the music video for the song below and give the rest of In Loving Memory’s discography a listen!
