Patent Pending’s cover mashup, “Wasted/Wake Me Up,” is one to add to your summer jams playlist. It’s not heavy, but it sure is fun to listen to and to watch. The music video is imaginative and playful and even runs in reverse. If you’re feeling like you need a pick me up, check out this music video!
The pop hit “Closer” by The Chainsmokers (ft. Halsey) has taken over the nation and even inspired a series of memes because of how viral it’s gone. New York rock band In Loving Memory just put a heavy spin on the song and it’s just as if not more addicting than the original. Check out the music video for the song below and give the rest of In Loving Memory’s discography a listen!
Even if you enjoy academics, the phrase “back to school” is always cringeworthy. It marks the end of summer fun and those damn TV commercials seem to start earlier and earlier every year. But no fear! Your HXC Magazine staff is here to make it a little more fun! Here’s a playlist to make your first days a little more mosh-tastic. (And if your teacher asks, that’s totally a word.)
Here are some thoughts on,
A few exciting records,
And one not so much.
There are a lot of horror stories out there about the music industry being a ruthless machine; ultimately unfriendly and not beneficial for the artists themselves. Be it just a perception or a harsh reality, there are people who are trying to change that. In the past few years, we’ve seen an increase in intimate artist-created, artist-centric labels. Revival Recordings and Esque Records are a couple that HXC Magazine have personally covered. Now, we’d like to get you better acquainted with L.A. based Luxor Records, currently run by As They Sleep guitarist Nick Morris.
There’s no doubt that pop punk has been on the rise the last couple of years and is enjoying (if pop punk knows how to enjoy) its current renaissance. Just look at music festival lineups for proof. The resurgence is a global phenomenon. Trash Boat is a band from St. Albans, UK bringing the catchy sadness with their record, Nothing I Write You Can Change What You’ve Been Through.
A Day To Remember have finally given us a release date for their new record, Bad Vibrations! The long awaited release is set to hit stores August 19th, and the pre-order is available now. It’s been a little while since they streamed their last single, “Paranoia,” so to accompany this announcement they’ve streamed the title track, which is a lot heavier than we’ve seen from ADTR in a while. Check out the video and the album artwork below and let us know what you think!
The Vans Warped Tour unveiled the whole of their 2016 lineup yesterday, along with an announcement for 2017. Bands like Atreyu, Ice Nine Kills, Cane Hill, Sum 41, Every Time I Die and Vanna amongst many others were announced for this year’s Warped Tour, but probably the most uplifting piece of news was that The Ghost Inside was officially announced as the first band on the 2017 Warped Tour lineup. This will mark the band’s first confirmed live performance since a terrible bus wreck left them intensely hurt several months ago.
