Yes, we already have our eyes set on the next one! While we do have a few bands in mind that we have yet to announce or 100% confirm, we also want to hear from you! If you’re coming out to an HXC Magazine house show, who do you want to see? Hit us up in the comments or on our Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter accounts with suggestions! If there is anything better than hardcore it’s puppies, and if there is anything better than puppies it’s finding a way to help puppies that are in need. Enter Kevin Oakley, local NJ show host, fervent hardcore kid and animal rights activist. If you’re part of the New Jersey Hardcore Facebook group, you’ll know him as one of the guys who posts almost every other day. If you’re part of the local show circuit–band or fan–you’ve heard of his mission before. If not, here’s your chance to meet him and get ready for his next Mosh For Paws show on September 23rd featuring acts Suburban Scum, Maximum Penalty, The Banner, Friend Or Foe, Steel Nation, Laid 2 Rest, Jukai, and Threat 2 Society at Mexicali Live in Teaneck.
Even if you enjoy academics, the phrase “back to school” is always cringeworthy. It marks the end of summer fun and those damn TV commercials seem to start earlier and earlier every year. But no fear! Your HXC Magazine staff is here to make it a little more fun! Here’s a playlist to make your first days a little more mosh-tastic. (And if your teacher asks, that’s totally a word.)
On August 19th, the same day that Bayside released their seventh studio album, Vacancy, the band stopped by the PlayStation Theater in New York City with support from The Menzingers and Sorority Noise.
A kiddie pool, a beyond smashed piñata, neighbors crashing the party to take photos and pick up merch, birthday cake, and insane decibel levels the likes of which a suburban NJ backyard has never seen. We’re talking, of course, about the second HXC Magazine house show. Since the weather permitted it, we set up the stage outside and only by the middle of the last band’s set, To Live As Wolves, did the cops show up. (Success!) Check out some shots from this amazingly fun day with Ellipses, Pulling Punches, Hollow Bones, REPS, and TLAW right here, and make sure you come out to the next one!

The moments we look for at HXC Magazine are the ones where band and crowd connect. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it a thousand times over: we don’t believe in barriers. This local Brooklyn show at Lucky 13 Saloon captures that spirit through and through. Check out some photos of Wastelands, Silence Equals Death, and Vice, as well as the killer pitters who make this scene dangerously fun.
Set to release their new record Your World Won’t Listen on September 9th via Hopeless Records, Cruel Hand have debuted a new music video for their new single off the record, “Decompose.” It’s heavy, it’s punky, and it’s catchy as hell. If you don’t pick up this record when it comes out, you’re missing out on a hell of a good time.
Oh man, oh man, oh man. It’s that time of year again. We caught the Holmdel, NJ date of the 2016 Vans Warped Tour and had the good fortune of watching, photographing, and moshing to bands like Every Time I Die, Old Wounds, Capsize, Ice Nine Kills and more! Check out some of our shots from that hot, hot day and see you punks again next year!
The second episode of HXC Magazine‘s Cellar Door Sessions podcast is here and this time we talk about the records that changed it all. The key records that shaped our music tastes and who we are today. Not only do we talk about blasts from the past, but we name a few contemporary records that you definitely need to check out right now! If you like Whitechapel, Senses Fail, Get Scared, Hundredth, Vanna, Beartooth, Taking Back Sunday and more, listen to this episode of The Cellar Door Sessions ~creeaaaakk~.
